7 weeks!

You are 7 weeks old today, bud! How did this happen already?!

What a little love you are. You just light up when your dad and I talk to you. You make us feel pretty good with that sweet smile you give us in return. You've already slept in our bed more than your two-year-old sister ever has. It must be true that parents get more relaxed with the 2nd baby. You're already breaking the rules :)

You like being cuddled, but you are about the noisiest sleeper in the world. Growling, grunting, moaning...just noisy! Mostly, I think it's you trying to break free from your swaddle - which you hate. I haven't given up on it yet, but you spend a good amount of time and energy trying to get out of it. And when you aren't swaddled, you are grunting and growling just trying to get your hands to your mouth. You have been trying sooo hard to get those little fists in that mouth of yours, and your poor face has taken a beating doing so. Hopefully, you don't become a thumb sucker...but that's what you're aiming for. You don't care for the paci, but we keep trying to shove it in. When you move to your own room, I'm sure we will miss all your sounds..

Your sister still LOVES you. Everyone tells us to be thankful for this, and we are. She talks to you throughout the day, telling you when you are bigger you can do fun stuff, like surf, jump, swing, cook, dance and color. You love to watch her run about the house. You listen to every word she says, every song she sings. When she lays on top of you, you don't fuss. When she steps on your arm, you don't cry. You guys are going to be best friends. Unfortunately, I think she wakes you up every single time you try to take a nap ... but that's just how it is right now.

I called the doctor this week about broken blood vessels in your eye. They say it could be from heavy crying, which translates= car rides. You freak out in the car, apparently popping blood vessels. The few times when you don't cry in the car, Lucca gets excited and says, "Brother's not crying!!" Hopefully you grow out of this. Pleeeeease.

You are sweet as can be - our perfect baby boy. You don't look a thing like I imagined you to look like all those months you were growing in my belly. You are stunning. Your cheeks are amazing. This morning you found your toes, and were in awe. Your eyes are changing, from blue to brown we think (...and kinda hope!). It's fun determining who you look like. You look like mommy's baby pictures, but your eyes are turning in to your dad's, and your complexion is definitely your dad's. You and Lucca have similarities, especially the mouth, but it looks like she is our golden child, and you will be our handsome dark haired, dark eyed, olive skinned boy.

Future heartbreaker, and already a stud.

Sweet Jackson

Behind on blogging already. Life is busy with two babies!

Jackson, we are so so thankful for you. You are the sweetest baby. Such a great sleeper so far, last night you didn't wake up until 3AM. THANK YOU!! You just don't stop growing, and your cheeks are to-die-for chubby. God must have listened to my prayers all those years when I asked to someday have chubby babies. You are a such a beautiful, or should I say handsome, baby boy. People call you "pretty" but mama calls you a stud. You probably don't want to be known as a pretty boy...but you can't help your good looks. You have started to smile, melting my heart and all the hearts around you. You just LOVE your tubby time and get so relaxed. You have started cooing and talking back to us when we talk to you. You take the best naps on your tummy, even though that's against the rules these days. You also take great naps when being held, and as soon as we try to set you down, you show us your big, bright eyes. You just like being held! Your sister is still obsessed with you and wants to hug and kiss you all day long. This week, you got to meet "Uncle B" and your cousins Lincoln and Lila, who love you just as much as Lucca does. They are so sweet with Baby Jackson!

The first 5 weeks of your life have been incredible. We are so blessed. So thankful. So in love with you.

1 Month Stats

Whoa, buddy, slow down!!! We took Jackson in for his 1 month check-up today with Dr Brock and Jackson has GROWN. What a big boy. Apparently my boobies are doing their job, quite well ;)

1 Month Stats
Weight: 9 lbs, 15 oz
Length: 22 inches

He gained 2 pounds in a month and grew 1.5 inches. He is healthy, beautiful and strong. And big sis? Well, she loved that the Dr poked at someone other than her this time. She helped listen to brother's "heart beep" ...

Jackson was an angel during the whole appointment, wide awake and happy. He made a quick squawk when getting his shot, otherwise didn't make a peep. Keep growing little buddy, you are one handsome dude. Happy one month!

4 weeks old!

Happy 4 weeks old little buddy!

A month old!? How did this happen? If I could freeze time, I so would. It's been a fun month getting to know you. We've given lots of snuggles, changed about a billion diapers, rocked you, slept with you, adored you, taken you all over town to keep up with Lucca's busy schedule and we even took you on your first out of town adventure to Grammie & Pops house for Easter. We have learned you love baths, love milk, HATE the car, love milk, HATE the swaddle and love milk. You are about as sweet as they come and we are so in love with you. It's fun to make comparisons between you and Lucca, and even more fun to realize just how unique you are.

You were born with the raddest hair of all time. Sadly, you are losing some of this jet black rock star hair, but hopefully you won't lose all of it. It's already getting lighter, and it's fun guessing what color it might be. We are hoping it stays dark like daddy's! We thought your eyes would be brown, but right now they are still very blue, so we'll see what they become. When you were born, you looked nothing like Lucca, but each day we see more and more resemblances between you and sissy.

You are sleeping well. We put you down for bed between 8-9PM and you sleep until 1AM. Then you wake up every 3 hours (almost to the minute!) to nurse. Your sleepy newborn ways have come to an end and you are awake much more during the day, and you have found your voice. You've showed us some personality, letting us know you aren't just going to sleep all the time and that you require attention too - Lucca can't have it all. Thanks for reminding us of this, she likes being the star of the show.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I am so thankful. We have so much to celebrate this year, and I hope to do most of our celebrating holding my sweet baby boy. We love you, Jackson.

Zen baby after the tubby
Such a strong boy (with the coolest newborn hair)
Snug as a Bug

ANNNND because you are a whopping 4 weeks old now, Daddy says it's okay to watch basketball on TV. Especially during NBA playoffs. You loved watching the big boys play ball. Daddy was thrilled to say the least..

Jackson's Movie

The day of Jackson's birth, as brilliantly documented (and edited, don't worry!) by his Daddy. I could watch this again and again. And cry every time.

Introducing Jackson Stone!

On our way to the hospital!
Saturday, 7AM, April 9 2011

Let's do this!
Checked in and ready to go. All smiles despite having a bad room, a bad IV experience and a bad nurse.
About to take a walk down the hall for a change of scenery...was still feeling pretty good at this point, until we opened the door and ran into 30 expecting parents on their hospital tour. And boy were they surprised to see a woman actually in labor walking the halls. They looked like ghosts, especially the husbands. Also? Embarrassing!
Feeling the PAIN. Childbirth is no joke.
Getting the (failed!!!) epidural.
Skip forward about 30 minutes, and then....the amazing part! Jackson arrives!!
7 lbs, 13 oz :: 20.5 inches of beautiful BOY
He was still very nameless at this point, but what a gorgeous dude..
PROUD MOMMY
PROUD DADDY
Jackson came out hungry! :)
Lucca meets Jackson. Love at first sight.
WE DID IT! :)

What a day. A beautiful, intense, amazing day. We love you little buddy.
